Design & CNC Manufacture — Custom Competition Trophy
Scroodfest is a local snowboard contest created by former members and friends of the Northstar snowboard team. Founded to build community, get people into the mountains, and host a competition centered entirely around creativity and style — not scores or rankings in the traditional sense.
The contest embodies the spirit of snowboarding at its core: progression, expression, and community. Designing and fabricating the award for Scroodfest was an opportunity to bring that same spirit into the workshop.
// Event Details
Designed and fabricated a custom award for Scroodfest using CNC milling techniques. Led the entire process from concept to production — from initial CAD design through CNC programming and final machining — ensuring precision and a high-quality finish throughout.
The award was modeled in SolidWorks and machined on a Tormach PCNC 1100 CNC Mill. CAD drawings were translated directly into CNC toolpaths for efficient and accurate manufacturing in machined aluminum.
// Key Specifications
Developed the award concept in SolidWorks from initial sketch through detailed CAD model. Design balanced aesthetic appeal with machinability constraints on the Tormach PCNC 1100.
Translated SolidWorks CAD drawings into CNC toolpaths for the Tormach PCNC 1100. Programmed tool selection, feed rates, and cutting sequences for efficient and accurate aluminum machining.
Set up and operated the Tormach PCNC 1100 CNC Mill to machine the award from aluminum stock. Monitored the machining process to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish quality throughout.
Post-machining finishing operations to achieve the final surface quality and appearance of the award.
